Bitcoin.com Celebrates Two Million Wallets Opened in Less Than a Year

This week, Bitcoin.com reached a milestone of two million wallets created on the platform. The interest and demand for Bitcoin gave a big impulse to the platform and generated thousands of downloads each week since the Bitcoin.com wallet was introduced in August last year. The multi-currency wallet is able to store Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin and it is available for both mobile and desktop devices and for all operating systems, such as Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android. The wallet allows the users to store their private keys.

The funds are not maintained by a third-party of by Bitcoin.com. Moreover, the wallet introduces some additions to its interface recently, improving the user experience and making it more pleasant. For example, Bitcoin.com Wallet is one of the seven wallet providers offering compatibility with the Bitpay payment protocol. This allows the users to make Bitpay payments easily with their Bitcoin.com wallets. Moreover, the wallet now supports the abilities of ShapeShift when using the ShapeShift API.

This means the users can natively exchange bitcoin for bcash or vice versa, all inside the wallet’s interface. The platform also supports multi-signature wallets where the cost control can be divided between more than one device/user in order to achieve greater security.

Roger Ver, the owner and CEO of Bitcoin.com, is enthusiastic about the future of his product and his company. He said the following: “Usage of our wallet has doubled in less than three months as demand for Bitcoin Cash continues to grow worldwide. With this, we are seeing an increase of industry support as well as merchant adoption on websites and retail venues. We are working hard to consistently roll out new features and improvements that add to the user experience of the Bitcoin.com Wallet.”

The open source wallet of Bitcoin.com will be updated with new features in the near future. Over time, it will be possible to make debit-card top offs on the platform. The developers of Bitcoin.com Wallet are also involved in the research of the BCH-based colored coin management. The Bitcoin Cash network will soon have the capacity to create token based assets (colored coins) and Bitcoin.com would like to be at the forefront of such technological advances.

Two million wallets present an important milestone, but it is just the beginning of the adoption of Bitcoin in the world.
